Press the cap and the ball drops into a spinning disc.

At rest it is a round ball built from thick interlocking segments with a smooth cap on top. Push the cap down and the whole sphere collapses in on itself, flattening into a low disc, and that disc keeps turning on its own once it settles. Pull it back up and you have a ball again.

It came off the printer already doing this. Nothing was clipped together.
